Michelle obtained her BS in Biology from the University of Illinois. Upon graduation, she completed an externship at John G. Shedd Aquarium in the marine mammal department while also working elsewhere as a veterinary assistant. She then worked in the financial industry before going back to school to obtain her AAS in Veterinary Technology from Parkland Community College in Champaign, IL. Michelle has worked at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the Small Animal Surgery department, since that time. Michelle is currently the veterinary technician and clinical coordinator for the Soft Tissue Surgery service at the VTH.
She has lectured in the past to first year veterinary students, and instructs both veterinary students and Parkland veterinary technician students as they rotate through the service.
In January 2013, she was in the inaugural group of technicians to obtain the VTS (Surgery) distinction. Michelle is also a member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) and NAVTA.
