MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Academy of Veterinary Surgical Technicians (AVST) is to increase the competence of those who perform specialty duties in the field of veterinary surgery. The academy will strive to ensure that the veterinary surgical technician possess superior knowledge and skill in the care and management of surgical cases, surgical instruments, and the surgical suite. AVST will offer candidates advanced continuing education opportunities and will establish educational and professional experience prerequisites to earn recognition as a VTS (Surgery).

***The academy will not confer/bestow to any candidate, or member of AVST any form of credit, degree,      or diploma.
